Color Theory & The Salk Institute

Fairmont State University Freshman Architecture Class
Color in Context: Revisiting Albers, with Anoka Faruqee

In this Freshman level course at Fairmont State architecture students are learning to hand render in color. Color terms are reviewed and discussed as they translate into digital terms. After watching Anoka Faruquee’s video students learn about Louis Kahn’s Salk Institute and use the tools of vanishing point and color adjacency rendering to complete the image shown on the screen of the Salk Institute Plaza. Section type drawings are discussed using Kahn’s building example. At the close of the video see how you might setup the drawing to complete the Salk Institute plaza sketch!
